What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Navigating The Route

This is a circular investigation around Tadcaster’s historic town centre, with detectives following pavements, riverside paths and a few characterful streets along the way. There are some uneven surfaces and narrow pavements to tackle, so keep your footing steady and your team moving in good order - no slipping up on this case! Unfortunately, this route isn’t suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs due to the terrain.

Getting There

Time to gather your squad and tap into the case:

Central Area Car Park, Chapel Street (LS24 9AT) – A free and convenient place to park up before things start brewing. Once you’re out of the car, the rest of the investigation is on foot - so step up, stay sharp and don’t let the culprit slip through the net.

Need the Loo?

Even the best detectives can’t keep everything bottled up! Public toilets can be found at the bus station near Clue 17, so it’s worth planning ahead before the pressure builds.

You’ll also pass plenty of pubs and cafés along the route - ideal for a quick refuel or to sit and mull over the evidence.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Got a trusty sniffer dog? They’re welcome to join most of the investigation…

However, dogs are not allowed in the churchyard (around Clues 15 & 16), so you’ll need a plan for that stretch - whether that’s waiting outside or splitting your squad briefly.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Riverside Rambles & Refresh Stops

After Clue 16, the riverside path along the River Wharfe is the perfect place to pause, regroup and let the case settle for a moment. It’s a lovely spot for a picnic - or just to let your ideas brew.

Brewing Heritage & Proper Yorkshire Pride

Tadcaster isn’t just any town - it’s steeped in brewing history, with famous names and centuries of craft behind every corner. As you investigate, you’ll pass spots that have helped shape its reputation - this case really does have layers.

Pubs, Pit Stops & A Well-Earned Pint

With plenty of pubs dotted along the route, you’re never far from a cosy stop. Whether it’s a quick snack, a refreshing drink or a celebratory pint once the case is cracked, there are plenty of places to raise a glass to your detective work.
