Who Nobbled the Umpire?

Tomorrow is the mixed doubles final at Wimbledon, and the excitement should be reaching fever pitch. But disaster has struck! Match umpire U.R. de Pitts has reportedly been bundled into a car by a mysterious culprit carrying a suspiciously racket shaped object.

Investigators fear this may be part of a wicked plot to replace Mr de Pitts with a bogus umpire and fix the final between Ivana Wackitova, Servan Volialot, Wei Wei Long and Alon De Baseline. Witness statements are all over the shop, so the Chief Inspector needs sharp-eyed Detectives to patrol the area, rule out innocent suspects and identify the vital evidence.

Can YOU crack the case and get Mr de Pitts back in the umpire's chair before it's game, set and match for the culprit?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Navigating The Route

This is a circular Detective Mystery through Wimbledon Village, around the edge of the All England Tennis Club and onto Wimbledon Common, with sleuths following pavements and clear paths as they work to uncover who tampered with the umpire.

The route is fully paved throughout, but includes some steep hills, particularly around Clues 06-08, so it may be challenging for some wheelchair and pushchair users.

Important: You will be travelling along busy village streets, crossing roads and later walking beside open Common areas, so detectives should use crossings where available, stay alert at all times and keep younger team members under close supervision.

Take extra care on downhill sections and near road crossings, especially in busier parts of the village.

Getting There

By car: Metered street parking is available on Peek Crescent (SW19 5ER), around a five-minute walk from the start point.

By public transport: Wimbledon Station is approximately 15 minutes from the start, or you can take the 93 bus to stop ‘L’, which is closer to the village.

Your investigation begins outside The Rose & Crown on High Street (SW19 5BA) - so step into position and start scanning for your first clue straight away.

Need the Loo?

Even top detectives need a comfort break during a long case! Toilets can be found in Cannizaro Park around Clue 16, so it’s worth planning your stop as facilities are limited earlier in the investigation.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged detectives are welcome on the case! With a mix of village streets and open Common paths, it’s a great outing for canine companions - just keep leads handy near roads and where livestock or wildlife (like Wombles) may be present.

Food & Drink Stops

There are plenty of cafés, pubs and shops between Clues 01-03 and again between Clues 09-11, making it easy to refuel during the early and middle stages of your investigation.

Later on, the Common provides a great picnic spot for a quieter break while reviewing your notes.

Village Charm and Local Haunts

Wimbledon Village is packed with character, from independent shops to classic pubs - perfect for blending in while keeping an eye on suspects.

The Common and Open Space

The second half of your investigation opens out onto Wimbledon Common, offering a more relaxed stretch with plenty of space to regroup and scan for clues.

Tennis Heritage and Famous Grounds

With the All England Tennis Club nearby, you’re right at the heart of world-famous sporting history - just the sort of place where a high-stakes mystery might unfold.
