More Information:

Essential Intel

This is a driving-and-walking Detective Mystery with multiple stops across the Lizard Peninsula. The Lizard Point section includes sheer cliff edges with no fencing, a very steep hill and exposed coastal conditions, so keep well away from cliff edges at all times and take extra care in windy or wet weather. Some sections, especially around Coverack, have no pavements, so keep the whole squad close.

Navigating The Route

This is a Detective Mystery across the Lizard Peninsula, with Detectives travelling by car between small villages, coves, harbours and dramatic coastal spots to help DCI Eve Ningall solve the strange case of Dr Mal Keyway and Luna Gazer.

The investigation takes around 4 hours to complete, with approximately 38 miles of driving and 2 miles of walking in total. You’ll explore Cury, Mullion, Mullion Cove, Lizard village, Lizard Point, Coverack and St Keverne while piecing together this galactic whodunnit.

The walking sections are mostly on level surfaces, and this Trail is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. However, the hill at Lizard Point is very steep, and good walking shoes are strongly recommended, particularly after rain.

Getting There

Time to gather your squad and begin this star-crossed investigation:

By car - Begin your inquiries by Saint Corantyn Church in Cury, Churchtown (TR12 7BW). From Helston, take the A3083 towards the Lizard, passing the entrance to RNAS Culdrose and going under the HMS Seahawk bridge. At the next roundabout, take the second exit towards Lizard, then the first right signposted to Cury / Poldhu Cove. Park in the narrow layby just after Church Road, opposite the school and Playing Field.

From there, the case continues by car to Mullion village, Mullion Cove, Lizard village and Lizard Point, Coverack, then St Keverne. Parking is suggested at Mullion village car parks, Mullion Cove, Lizard village or Lizard Point, Coverack’s free car park near the coach park, and St Keverne village square near the memorial.

By public transport - This is a driving Trail between several villages and coastal locations across the Lizard Peninsula, so public transport is unlikely to be practical for completing the full route as planned.

Need the Loo?

Even sharp-eyed Detectives need a comfort break during a four-hour case. Toilets are available at Mullion, Lizard village, Lizard Point and Coverack, so plan your stops carefully between each section of the investigation.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged Detectives can join the outdoor parts of the investigation 🐾

This route includes village streets, churchyards, harbour areas, coastal viewpoints, no-pavement stretches and steep sections. Keep canine colleagues close throughout, especially near roads, cliff edges, harbour walls and any busy visitor areas. Check individual cafes, attractions and church grounds before taking dogs inside.

Food & Drink Stops

Cracking a cosmic coastal case can leave a squad feeling properly peckish.

There are a few chances to stop for refreshments and stock up on snacks along the way, but it’s worth packing supplies before setting off. Mullion Cove, Lizard Point and Coverack Harbour all make good picnic stops if the weather behaves and the seagulls haven’t joined the suspect list.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Mullion Cove

Mullion Cove is one of the standout coastal stops on the route. Its harbour was completed in 1895 and protected by two sturdy sea walls, built after several difficult pilchard seasons. It’s a brilliant place to pause, enjoy the view and let the case notes settle.

Lizard Village and Lizard Point

The investigation heads to the Lizard, including the Most Southerly Point. It’s a dramatic, windswept stretch of coastline with big views and a proper edge-of-the-map feel. Take your time here, but keep well back from the cliffs and watch your footing on the steep sections.

Coverack Harbour

Coverack Harbour gives the case another classic Cornish coastal stop. Built in 1724 from local stone, the harbour is tied to smuggling tales, shipwrecks and the S.S. Paris, which ran aground nearby in 1899. A grand place for a scenic breather before the case rolls onward.

St Keverne

The final village section takes Detectives to St Keverne, where the story of Michael Joseph An Gof and the 1497 Cornish rebellion adds a proper historic punch. The village square, memorial and churchyard bring the investigation to a fittingly atmospheric close.

The Lizard Peninsula Scenery

This route is made for squads who enjoy a mix of mystery, coastline and characterful Cornish villages. With coves, harbours, churches, cliff views and countryside roads all stitched together, it’s a big old case with sea spray on its fingerprints.

Mini Detective Club

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.

Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.
