The Mystery of Red Flint's Treasure

In the year 1683, the infamous pirate Red Flint sailed up the River Ythan on his ship, the Cloudy Damsel. After escaping the authorities who were hot on his trail, he settled down in the town of Ellon, where he married a local cook named Sal M'Nella. They lived out their days in a quiet and comfortable old cottage in the town.

However, during recent renovations of this cottage, some old dusty documents were discovered hidden within the walls. These documents were handed over to the Intrepid Explorers Society (IES), who found an old treasure map with clues scribbled on the reverse. The IES believes that these clues will lead to the location of Red Flint's buried treasure, but they need a team of brave adventurers to explore the wilds of Ellon and put their theory to the test. The Mystery of Red Flint's Treasure Trail

Join the adventure in Ellon with this exciting self-guided Treasure Hunt Trail. As you follow the Trail route, you'll solve sneaky clues set on existing buildings, permanent features, and monuments, all while exploring the town's leafy parks and the banks of the River Ythan. This circular route also takes you through the town's historic square, providing a fun and engaging experience for the whole family.

The Trail begins at Market Street car park, near the picturesque centre of Ellon. From there, you'll journey through the town's leafy parks and along the banks of the River Ythan, before making your way back to the starting point. Keep your eyes peeled for hidden clues and be prepared for an adventure like no other!
