A mystery is waiting to be solved in

St Ives

It was supposed to be a simple move to the picturesque town of St Ives for renowned artist Ivanta Paintalot and her partner Wilma Easel Fittindere, but their latest masterpiece was never meant to be their last. The artists were found motionless in their studio, and it seems someone may have tampered with the town's unique light switch. Was it a shocking accident, or did someone have a motive to snuff out their light?

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore St Ives (Porth Ia), there are a few things you need to know...

This Trail has not been marked as wheelchair or pushchair friendly due to cobbled streets, some flights of steps and steep hills, as well as stretches of narrow roads with no pavements.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that there is one clue that is in an area where dogs are not permitted, so we could not advise bringing along your pup if you are doing the Trail alone.

The closest pay and display car park is at The Station (TR26 2BH), where this Trail begins. There are only limited spaces in this car park, so you may wish to park at Trenwith car park (TR26 1DD) and use the shuttle bus service into town. Alternatively, why not park at St Erth Railway station (TR27 6JW) and take the scenic "St Ives Bay Line" train journey to the start of your Trail adventure?

There are some fantastic events in the St Ives calendar, from the local Feast Day and May Day celebrations to the popular Lifeboat Day in August and several food and drink events throughout the year. All of these occasions are fantastic times to visit this beautiful town, however, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access. We recommend checking for events before you set off on your investigation.

There are public toilets available at various points throughout the Trail, and the route passes several pubs, restaurants and a few cafes along the way. The beaches and gardens make perfect picnic spots.
