We've got a mission for you in

Guildford

Attention all Agents! The notorious media mogul, Ray D. O'Gaga, has devised a wicked plan to dominate the airwaves and control the minds of the people of Surrey. His evil device emits a high-pitched noise that "mega hurts" the ears of anyone tuned in to their favourite radio stations. But that's not all - once he has everyone's attention, Ray plans to broadcast subliminal messages, forcing them to commit criminal acts at his command. It's up to our top undercover Agent, Cam O'Flage, to stop him. With the help of encrypted clues, can YOU solve the puzzles, deactivate the device, and save the day?

More Information:

Essential Intel

The gardens along the way close at dusk, so allow plenty of time to complete the mission before they shut. This Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Navigating The Route

This is a circular Spy Mission around Guildford town centre and its Jabberwocky connections, with Agents helping undercover Agent Cam O'Flage use his intel to stop evil media mogul Ray D. O'Gaga and his airwave-dominating device.

The operation covers approximately 1.3 miles and should take around 1.5 hours to complete. You'll begin at Eastgate Court on High Street, near the junction of Eastgate Gardens, then work through Guildford's urban town-centre streets and pavements, Jeffries Passage, a churchyard section, Guildford Castle grounds and Allen House Gardens before looping back towards the start.

This Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The route includes narrow and potentially awkward sections, including a narrow alley called Jeffries Passage and a churchyard.

Cross roads at the crossings shown in the route, including by the school and at pedestrian islands. Keep Mini Agents close around the High Street and busier town-centre sections.

The route finishes back at the start point: exit the park through the gate at the top, cross over to the pavement and turn right; the car park is 100 yards along and the High Street start is just beyond it.

Getting There

By car: Start your mission at Eastgate Court on High Street, near the junction of Eastgate Gardens (GU1 3AW), using ///farms.cloak.calm. Park the spy-mobile at High Street car park (GU1 4AZ). Alternatively, G-Live car park (GU1 4DD) is a bit further away but cheaper and larger.

By public transport: Use the town's Park & Ride to arrive undercover, then make your way to Eastgate Court on High Street, near the junction of Eastgate Gardens, to begin the mission.

Need the Loo?

There are toilets between Clues 04-05, at Clue 10, and just before the arch at Tunsgate, giving Agents a few useful comfort-stop opportunities during the operation.

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Well-behaved four-legged Agents can join the mission, with a little fieldcraft. 🐾

The route includes urban streets, pavements, road crossings, a narrow alley and a churchyard section, so keep canine operatives close around traffic, busier areas and tighter spots.

Food & Drink Stops

Code-cracking is thirsty work, and there are plenty of places for refreshments along the way.

If you'd rather bring your own rations, pack supplies for a picnic in the castle grounds around Clue 09 or at the Trail end point.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Guildford Castle

Guildford Castle is the standout extra for Agents who like their spycraft with a panoramic view. For a small entrance fee, visitors can access the main tower, some rooms are open to the public, and you can go to the top of the Great Tower for a 360-degree panoramic view of Guildford and the surrounding countryside. The castle is open daily April-September, 10am-5pm, with final admission at 4.30pm, and also on weekends in March and October plus autumn half term, 10am-3.30pm.

Allen House Gardens

The mission ends at Allen House Gardens, small Jabberwocky-themed gardens that commemorate Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known as Lewis Caroll, who has strong links with Guildford, and his famous nonsense poem, The Jabberwocky. The Trail describes them as a musical garden, making them a fitting finale for this wordplay-filled operation.

The Holy Trinity Churchyard

The route passes through The Holy Trinity Churchyard before continuing beside the pub. It's a distinct, quieter part of the walk and a good place to slow the pace once the ciphered clues stop demanding your full undercover attention.

Mini Secret Agent Club

We have three super duper themed Clubs for your child to enjoy as part of their Treasure Trail experience.

Perfect for 4-8 year olds, the concept behind the Clubs is that your child will get a bundle of goodies to excite them about their forthcoming Trail experience, something to keep them entertained whilst travelling to and from the Trail, and something to be given on completion of the Trail as a keepsake.
