Aberystwyth - The Case of the Missing Books

Aberystwyth is known for its beautiful promenade, bustling town, and the prestigious National Library of Wales. But recently, a gang of thieves has been causing chaos and stealing rare and valuable books. The local informant, Snitch Jones, has tipped off Chief Superintendent Feaf Trapper that the gang has arrived in town. With the National Library at risk, Feaf has come up with a clever plan to catch the thieves before they strike.

Follow the Clues and Catch the Book Thieves

Chief Superintendent Feaf Trapper has codenamed this detective mystery 'Paperback' and has called upon YOU, her top detectives, to help solve the case. Your mission is to follow the clues scattered throughout Aberystwyth, identify the gang leader, and discover their weapon of choice before they can pull off their next heist.

As you explore the town and promenade, keep your eyes peeled for sneaky clues hidden in plain sight. With your detective skills and keen eye, you'll be able to uncover the truth and help Feaf make an arrest.

So put on your detective hat and get ready for an exciting adventure through Aberystwyth!

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Aberystwyth, there are a few things you need to know...

The route is not friendly for wheelchair users, but those with pushchairs should find it manageable.

Bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that it is a busy town centre, so dogs will need to be kept on leads.

The closest long-stay pay and display car park to the Trail start point is at North Road Clinic on Queen’s Avenue (SY23 2EG), just a five-minute walk away.

There are some fantastic events in Aberystwyth’s calendar, all of which are fantastic times to visit this beautiful town. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions. We recommend checking for events before you set off on your investigation.

There are public toilets available towards the beginning and Clue 12. The route passes refreshment stops between Clues 03-09 and picnic spots between Clues 12-14.

Looking for more things to do in Aberystwyth? Make a day of it and take a trip on the Cliff Railway to visit the Camera Obscura or take a peek inside the Amgueddfa Ceredigion Museum near the seafront.
