The Great Escape - Can YOU Save the Royal William Yard from the Sinister Espionage Agency?

The historic Royal William Yard in Plymouth is in grave danger! The sinister head of the SEA (Sinister Espionage Agency), Otto Lee Powerful, has set his sights on stealing this important piece of the UK for his own power-hungry empire. With his high-tech ship disguised as a ferry, he plans to cut off the Yard and tow it away in just 24 hours. But we can't let that happen!

That's where YOU come in, our top undercover agent. We need you to uncover the radio frequency and location of the device that will trigger the angle grinders to carve off Devil's Point and the Yard. With this information, we can jam the signal and save the Yard for Blighty. Good luck, Double-Oh Devon!

Spy Mission City Tour Through the Royal William Yard

Attention all agents! We have a top-secret mission for you at the historic Royal William Yard in Plymouth. This self-guided Spy Mission Trail will take you through the former military area, full of hidden dangers and surveillance drones. Your mission is to follow our intel and stay hidden from enemy eyes at all times.

But be warned, time is of the essence. The Yard is at risk of being hacked off from the mainland and towed away by SEA. Your task is to solve the sneaky clues, crack the code, and block the radio signal before it's too late.

Are YOU ready to save the day and protect the Royal William Yard?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Before you set off on your awesome adventure to explore Plymouth, there are a few things you need to know...

This Trail has not been marked as accessible for wheelchair users due to a large flight of stairs encountered along the route of the Trail.

Why not bring your four-legged friends along! Please note that the Yard can get very busy, so please keep your dog on a lead throughout the latter part of the Trail.

There is limited free parking available at Devil's Point Park, Admiralty Road (PL1 3RS). If this is full, you can park in the pay and display car park in the Yard itself. This car park is the closest to the Trail's start point. We would recommend a minimum of 3 hours to complete your mission, but you can always pay for longer if you wish to explore further after finishing. If you prefer, the city centre car parks are only a 25-minute walk away, and the city is available to explore further in your own time.

There is a wide range of activities available at the Yard, so you could always extend your visit if you wish to. However, you may find that some of the clues on this Trail may become obstructed or difficult to access if there are any events being held, so please plan ahead before travelling.

There are public toilets available at Clue 04 of the Trail (8.00am until 6.30pm). There are plenty of opportunities for refreshments and facilities along the latter part of the Trail from Clue 11 onwards.

Looking for more things to do in Plymouth? Once you've completed your mission, take some downtime and visit some of the cafes and restaurants in the Yard. Or what about some retail therapy in the shops on offer. If you want to, you can even stay at the Yard and spend more time absorbing the details of its fascinating history. Alternatively, why not take in the scenery and enjoy the views across the River Tamar with an ice cream in hand!
