Summer Spectacular: Week Three

Summer Spectacular Week Three

To help keep your holidays super fun, creative and budget friendly, there will be 63 unique activity ideas to unlock. Each week, another seven ideas, plus a puzzle, will be released. This is Week Three. Check out the full schedule here. We hope you find some great ideas to keep you entertained!

Having World Ice Cream Day, Emoji Day and Listening Day in one week is 100% permission to go sit on a bench and listen to the world going by while eating lots of ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ! What else can you look forward to this week? Keep reading to find out!

Plus, in case of rainy weather, there's another puzzle for you to crack. Can you help Teresa Trayals recreate the iconic ice cream combo, the TT Super Cone? Check the answers here when you've solved it.

Here are the seven activities for this week...

Saturday 15th July

There are so many brilliant murals, sculptures and statues to be discovered in towns and cities across the UK, but often we pass them by. So, set off on an art walk and take time to properly look at any street art you come across. You might learn some new things about the location too!

What other art can be found around you? Is there a pop-up sculpture tour, sandcastle competition or graffiti workshop you could join? Can you create your own colourful artwork inspired by things you've seen or with a photo collage of features you've found?

Sunday 16th July

We love ice cream at TTHQ, and it turns out most of you do too! In a survey of 550 Trailers, 61% of those who enjoy a post-Trail treat pick ice cream. One Trailer, Allen Tsui, even holds the TT World Record for the earliest ice cream on a Trail. So, of course, we couldn't let World Ice Cream Day pass us by.

Design your own ice cream combo, thinking about flavours, sauces and toppings. Can you recreate it at home or at your local ice cream parlour?

Maybe you could try the TT Super Cone, an iconic combo once loved by weary explorers. You'll have to help Teresa Trayals identify the order first, though, in this week's puzzle.

Do you know your ๐Ÿค๐Ÿงœโ€โ™€๏ธ from your ๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿคฅ? If you saw the Tuesday Teaser from 30th May, you just might!

To celebrate World Emoji Day, use emojis to describe three of your favourite films, then ask your family and/or friends to do the same.

Then, gather for a film night and have fun trying to guess each other's titles. The person who guesses the most the fastest gets to choose the movie!

For World Listening Day, you could listen to your favourite band, a podcast or an audiobook, but you probably do that most days! What we rarely do is listen to what's going on around us.

Today, head out into the hustle and bustle of a city centre, find a spot by the coast, or head deep into the countryside. Sit on a bench, close your eyes and simply listen to the world around you.

What can you hear? Is there noise from traffic, people's conversations, music from shops? Or can you hear birdsong, rustling leaves, crashing waves?ย

Sit and listen

Wednesday 19th July

Nothing beats being beside the water on a hot summer's day. And when you're out on the water, your perspective of your surroundings completely changes.

Take a boat trip along a river, canal or coastline and spot things you canโ€™t normally see from land or shore. What landmarks can you recognise? What wildlife can you spot? If you're visiting somewhere new, try picking a boat tour that will point out points of interest to you as you go.

Lacking sea legs? Try going on a walk beside the water instead. You'll still see plenty of wildlife from a canal path or seaside promenade.

Thursday 20th July

Are you getting itchy feet, wanting to visit new places and get out on an adventure? Well, maybe you should start thinking about places you'd like to explore.

Make a list of 26 places in the UK youโ€™d like to visit, each beginning with (or containing) a different letter of the alphabet. You might need to get a bit creative to cover all the letters. And, no, the zoo does not count for Z!

Need inspiration? We went on a wiggly journey from Land's End to John 'o Groats last autumn, stopping at 50 spots along the way. Check out The Wonky Way to find out more!

Friday 21st July

You've got to follow in some pretty big footsteps this Friday, explorers. It's time to go fossil hunting!

Research the best place near you and cross your fingers for some finds. You might need some tools - like a small hammer and some chisels to break apart rocks hiding fossils - so make sure you've got the correct safety equipment too.

If you havenโ€™t got a fossil-finding spot near you, make some of your own! You could try using salt dough to create your very own ammonites or air dry clay and dino toys to make imprints.
