The Edinburgh Old Town Treasure Trail starts at:

Market Street
Edinburgh
City of Edinburgh
EH1 1DE
Scotland

Please Note:

Unfortunately, the route is not suitable for wheelchair users due to some steps and steep hills encountered along the way. However, those with pushchairs should find this manageable.

There is a section of Clues located in an area where dogs aren’t allowed, so please don’t bring your four-legged friends along unless a member of your group can wait with them at these Clues.

The Gardens at Clue 11 are locked at night, so make sure you leave plenty of daylight hours to complete your Trail!

The closest long stay pay and display car park to the start of the Trail is the St John’s Hill NCP, just a 10 minute walk away. Or why not try one of Edinburgh’s fantastic Park and Ride services

There are some fantastic events in Edinburgh’s calendar, all of which are great times to visit this beautiful city. However, you may find that some of the Clues on this Trail may become obstructed or difficult to access on these occasions – especially during the
Fringe Festival. If you would like further information about event dates, please contact Edinburgh Visitor Information.

Public toilets are available at the start of the Trail, and there are a myriad of cafes, restaurants, pubs and other eating establishments throughout the route.

Why not make a day of it by visiting Mary King Close, St Giles Cathedral or Edinburgh Castle along the way? You could even challenge yourself to another Trail adventure to uncover more twisting tales about this amazing city!

The Edinburgh Old Town Treasure Hunt Trail should be purchased prior to leaving home. Once you have your Trail booklet in your hand you're good to go!

The easiest and quickest way to get the most up to date version of the Edinburgh Old Town Treasure Trail is to order a download version off the website. You will instantly get a link to download a PDF file of the Trail for you to print at home. This can be done at any time of day or night for instant access.

If you would like a hard copy, then choose the printed option online and we will pop one in the post for you to be delivered within 2-3 working days.

If you are looking to do the Trail today and don't have a printer, we do have a couple of local retailers (use the search below) or why not purchase a download and go to a local library where you can print it off. If there are no other options though, with a little patience (due to scale and format) the Trail can be used on a tablet and at a push a phone.

Sometimes you just want to speak to a real person though, so call one of the team on 01872 263692, Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm.
