Appy Families – Entertaining Smartphone Apps

Treasure Trails Ltd has recently taken steps into the digital world of mobile apps, enhancing the experience of our Trails through the use of modern technology.

The Treasure Trails Player incorporates the use of GPS, QR codes, audio and video effects to appeal to gadget fans and teenage members of the family, as well as those that prefer immediate access to Trails on the go.

Appy Families - Entertaining Smartphone Apps

There are thousands of apps on the market aimed at entertaining the family, that don’t involve sitting in front of the games console! We have taken a glimpse and have come up with our favourites for keeping the whole family amused.

Goldstar Savings Bank

Appy Families - Entertaining Smartphone Apps - Goldstar Savings BankThis educational app for iPad promotes the core financial life skills that will inspire the younger generation to save. Parents can set savings goals for their child for their desired reward, such as that computer game, bicycle or school trip. Children can ‘earn’, save and monitor their progress by completing set tasks, chores and activities – Treasure Trails being one of them!

Bright, colourful and engaging; this is our favourite educational app by far.

£1.99, available on iPad

MyNature Animal Tracks

Appy Families - Entertaining Smartphone Apps - MyNature Animal TracksAnimal tracks can be found all over, and the MyNature Animal Tracks app will identify prints to provide descriptions and illustrations, as well as gait patterns (for the children to mimic, perhaps!), vocal sounds and details about the animal’s life cycle.

This app really encourages children and adults alike to take notice of what is around them, and become closer to nature as a result.

£4.99, available on iPhone and Android.

Appy Families - Entertaining Smartphone Apps - iSeismometer

A simple concept, the iSeismometer is an app that monitors the tiniest of movements and creates a visual report. It is a novelty idea but one that kept us fascinated for ages. Why not use it to step up a game of ‘musical statues’, or get the children to monitor their heartbeat?

We have even heard of a lady that used the app to watch the movements of her unborn baby!

Free, available on iPhone and Android.
