Given everything that’s happened so far this year, we figured that’s the next few months are going to form ‘A Puzzling Autumn’! So, we’re making the most of it and are celebrating everything weird and wonderful about puzzles through autumn 2020.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be diving into some puzzle history, cultural differences and how some of our favourite brainteasers have played important roles at critical times for societies and countries.
Welcome to Treasure Trails Puzzle Academy!
It’s not just about the words, though. We’ve put our puzzle-loving brains together to create a pretty (in fact, very) awesome Puzzle Academy.
Simply sign up below and you will receive an email every three days with a different, quick puzzle for you to solve, with a total of 14 puzzles. Submit your answer to each, and we’ll update your position on the Puzzle Academy leaderboard!
IMPORTANT – you need to be signed up before 23rd October 2020 to ensure you receive all puzzles in time to make the top of the leaderboard, and that you are only using one (consistent) Puzzle Master Name per email address.
On Friday 4th December 2020, we’ll close the tables and see which of you will be graduating at the top of your Puzzle Academy class! Every Academy member who successfully solves all 14 puzzles before the tables close will win a free Trail. Don’t worry if you don’t quite get full marks; if you answer every puzzle (right or wrong) you’ll have a chance to win a Cryptex and £50 with one final brain-teasing question!
Take your time with the puzzles but be sure to have completed them all before 4th December 2020!

Sorry! Enrolment to the Puzzle Academy is now closed! But don’t worry – if you’ve missed out, we’ll be releasing all the puzzles once the competition is over in December for you to do #justforfun so keep an eye on our social media pages.
Still Want More?
As well as so many fun puzzles for you to complete, we’ll be bringing you cool facts about the puzzling world and our love for a good brainteaser through the ages.
Do you know which famous author invented not one but TWO types of popular word puzzles? Or how old the oldest riddle is? We’ll be delving into our Puzzling History on Thursday 17th September 2020 to reveal our curious past of solving conundrums. You’ll be surprised to find how modern some of the most popular puzzles are!
Of course, we can’t look at the history of puzzles without exploring the hard work from the codebreakers during World War II. On Thursday 1st October 2020 we’ll investigate the Puzzling War and take a look at the crazy cryptograms cracked by those at Bletchley Park, which have inspired many of our Spy Mission Trail Clues!
A love of mind-boggling brainteasers spreads across the globe, with so many new puzzles created in Japan now reaching mainstream success in the UK. But what about the other countries? We’ll be exploring the Puzzling World on Thursday 15th October 2020 to see what puzzles are on offer across the world.
If you’re still hungry for more puzzles, check out our Facebook page and join in with our weekly Tuesday Teasers! You can find us on Twitter and Instagram too. Better still, post your photos of you looking puzzled out on a Trail! Tag us and add the hashtag #APuzzlingAutumn!
