Fundraising with Treasure Trails

People are always looking for new and innovative ways of raising money for charity, and there are lots of wonderful and crazy ideas out there, from jumping out of planes to shaving all your hair off - anything goes these days.

If you prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground and your lovely locks intact, fear not, you can still do your bit for a great cause with a Treasure Trail.

Fundraising for Individuals

For small groups of 4 or 5, our ready-made self-guided Treasure Trails make a great basis a bit of fundraising. All you need to do is grab four other family members or friends, choose your Trail - they’re great value and there’s plenty to choose from, and then decide how you want to raise funds. Anything goes but here are a few ideas to get you started:

Sponsored walks

Get your friends and family to sponsor you to do the Trail, or count the clues and ask them to sponsor you per clue, and then see how many clues you get right - hopefully all of them to maximise your total!

Or, why not spice it up a bit - do the Trail in fancy dress! Our Trails are great for dressing up as you already have a theme, whether that’s pirates on a treasure hunt, detectives on a murder mystery or secret agents on a spy mission.

To raise even more cash, arrange some collection boxes with your local charity and shake ‘em as you go around (Trails in cities or larger towns work best for this where there are more people about!).

Larger Events

Running an event based around your local Treasure Trail is a great way to raise vital funds for the community. Combined with a BBQ or refreshments available at the end for those hungry and thirsty Trailers, and with great prizes on offer donated by your wonderfully friendly local businesses, each team’s entry fee (as set by you) will more than cover the cost of the Trail booklets and leave plenty of cash to go in the pot at the end of the day. Get in touch today and we’ll pass you over to your local Treasure Trails Writing Partner to discuss your ideas.

Up the challenge

Set yourself some bigger goals - one Trail per day for a week? Three Treasure Trails in one day? (A Trailathon!)  Or combine your Treasure Trails with other activities like Becca and Leanne did - read all about it and see how much they raised.

Treasure Trails working with charities

Think big

If you have a whole group of people wanting to get involved, a special event coming up or you’re a charity or company looking for a fundraising event with a difference, our UK wide Treasure Trail Writing Partners can put together a tailored Trail or activity in your area.

Past activities have included a special version of a standard Trail with extra challenges for a family fun day, a Trail designed around an event venue for participants of a 10k sponsored walk, and a corporate team building event with local companies each entering a team or two to compete.

Whatever you have in mind, or for more ideas and suggestion, contact us to link up with your local Trail Writing Partner.

Schools

Why not ‘challenge’ your pupils to complete their local Trail over the holidays? Contact us for bulk discounts on Trail booklets which you can then sell on to raise funds.

Or - why not turn your pupils into budding Trail Writers. Our local Trail Writing Partner will work with you to create a fantastic new Treasure Trail which you can then sell on or use at an event to fundraise for your school. See our Fun Learning page for more details.

Send us your photos!

Whatever you end up doing, please do let us know what you get up to and send us some photos of you out on your fundraising Trail - we’d love to share them! Post them on Facebook or Twitter, or email them in.
