'This is a fun and (don't tell the children) educational activity as the trail took us all round Dartmouth and we learnt a lot about its fascinating history along the way.'

Team Building Survey Results

29/07/2011

Treasure Trails Herefordshire and Worcestershire recently ran a short and simple survey to ascertain what people wanted from a team building exercise and the results showed us that FUN is at the top of everyone’s list. We asked “which of the following describe what you want from a team building event - please tick all that apply” and the top answer was FUN with a whopping 86.7%.  73.3% went for AFFORDABLE and the third top answer was GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER with 66.7% going for that.

As existing customers know, Treasure Trails offer a fun, affordable and educational product which naturally lends itself to working together to solve clues and follow directions to find out the answer to a mystery and so we were delighted that our survey showed that using the Treasure Trails product will fit what most people want from a team building event.

But let’s start at the beginning.... the respondents to the survey were evenly spread with 26.7% being team leaders of teams bigger than 10 people, the same percentage were team leaders of teams smaller than 10 and the same percentage again were people who were members of teams bigger than 10 and also 26.7% were members of teams smaller than 10, leaving only 6.7% who are not currently in a team, but whose opinions are still valid.

Sadly over 40% said that they very rarely had team building activities, but happily over one third said they did participate about once a year in something, with 14% doing something several times a year.

Interestingly, the type of team building activity that was the most popular with over half stating it as a preference was a non active one...eg going to the pub together with no one wanting anything very active like mountain climbing and only 14% choosing canoeing or go karting! Walking came out as popular with 28.6% and over 80% said that if they suggested a treasure hunt as a team building activity the team would react favourably!

As well as treasure hunting, the Treasure Trails offering usually includes 2 or 3 other activities to do along the way and when asked the question “set around a core treasure hunt there are a number of different challenges that could be incorporated. Please tick the 3 that appeal to you the most”, the top three answers were – Quiz Questions, Photographic Competition, Dingbats and other brain teasers, with Quiz Questions a clear winner at 30 points ahead of the second choice and 40 ahead of the third.

As to budget, over two thirds of respondents said they would expect to pay between £10 and £50 per head for half a day’s activity and finally, 40% said they were likely or very likely to take up the option of a observation report on their team’s behaviour during the activity!

Our grateful thanks to those who participated in the survey and we promised one lucky person a free Treasure Trail which will be winging its way across to them shortly!
