The Bewdley Maths Trail -

The Case of the Blue Sceptre Stone

YOUR MISSION

"I spy with my little eye a horrific murder! Local spy, Doc U Ment, was found floating under Bewdley bridge after he was last seen  in the cellars of Bewdley Museum trying to protect the precious Blue Sceptre Stone which has now been locked in a combination box. Fellow spies, Alex Spyder and Shirley Holmes are investigating. Only one person has the code to the box and knows the name of the murderer. Can you find that person?"

ABOUT THE TRAIL

The Bewdley Maths Trail is the culmination of an exciting project launched by Worcestershire County Council's Extended Services in and Around Schools Team and Treasure Trails Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The content of the Trail is aimed at supporting the numeracy aspects of the national curriculum which include calculations, fractions, percentages, time, distance, position, problem solving, colour and texture and a lot of fun!

The Trail has been produced by 8 children from the four Bewdley Primary schools (Upper Arley, Far Forest Lea, Bewdley Primary School and St Anne’s) with a litle help from their families and the Treasure Trails Team. The Maths Trail will be launched on Saturday 30th April at the start of the Discover Bewdley weekend.

A Competition was run to select a picture to go on the front cover.  Children from Year 6 in the 4 primary schools were eligible to enter.  Over 40 entries were received. The winning picture, shown with the Treasure Trails Header below, was by Talitha Jackson.  A selection of other worthy entrants is also shown.

Testimonials

Very good, 1st time we have done one of these, would do more, lots of people asking us about it along the way. Would recommend

Claire, Kidderminster, August 2011

Nice to have a cheaper hunt for children, with some good photo clues in it.

Craig, Stourbridge, August 2011

The Trail was great family fun. It was a great way to spend a day outside in the sun trying to find the murderer!!! We hope we got the right answer and would love it if you decided to do any more. Great work to all involved!

Joseph, Bewdley, July 2011

The reigning Tenbury Wells champion and his team are back! Great fun had on the trail as always. Daddy was just grateful he didn't have to dig out his logarithm tables or remember how to differentiate and integrate!

John, Lancashire, May 2011

We had a lovely afternoon.
