YOUR CASE
Misread exercise coordinates has led to the discovery of a body on the Plain. Rumours are rife about espionage, murdered cryptologists, mysterious travellers and even alien invasions! However the hard evidence points to down to earth foul play. Military Police are asking for the public’s assistance with the investigation. Solve the mystery and you could win a prize!
Salisbury Plain Military History
The Ministry of Defence started land purchase on Salisbury Plain in 1897. Today it is the UK’s largest military training area with an estate about the size of the Isle of Wight occupying about one ninth of Wiltshire.
Follow the Trail and solve the mystery as you explore an area where British, Commonwealth and American troops were based during two world wars. Along the way discover the birthplace of military aviation, find an unusual living tribute to Admiral Lord Nelson and get up close to a tank and a curious adaptation of the Gazelle helicopter.
Allow around 2.5 hours for this compact 5.3 mile Driving Trail from its start point at Solstice Park Junction on the A303 to its conclusion at Larkhill Garrison, home to The Royal Artillery.
Expect to walk around 2 miles plus there’s an optional short stroll for some watery scenes in Bulford village. A longer walk onto Salisbury Plain forms part of the Trail. However, if preferred, one clue could be skipped to reduce walking distance making this Trail suitable for all levels of physical ability.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
The trail was excellent, some of the clues took a bit more finding than others! Our group was just Myself, My husband and the two children (aged 14 and 9). There was something in it for all of us, my boy especially liked the tank. Even though we are local, the history facts about the area were interesting.
