Ramsbury 1
The quiet rural village of Ramsbury nestles by the River Kennet below the slopes of the Marlborough Downs in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Steeped in history and tradition the village boasted a bishop’s palace before the Norman Conquest and was once a coaching stop on the London to Bristol route. The village has many fine Jacobean and Georgian buildings, thatched cottages and an impressive church.
This compact circular walking Treasure Hunt explores the heart of the medieval village with glimpses of the waterside and nearby meadows. You’ll mostly walk on pavements and lanes and along a boardwalk at the nature reserve. There are some inclines but the Trail is considered suitable for wheelchair users with a companion.
