  • YOUR CASE

During the bustle of watering horses and riders, Saul the slippery saddler laid his hands on the purses of many a weary traveller. It is rumoured that his accumulated spoils are hidden somewhere wrapped in cheesecloth inside a leather boot. Follow the directions and solve the clues to see if you can find the boot’s secret hiding place. You could even win a prize yourself!

Mere 2 - Heritage below the Hill

Nestling beneath Castle Hill in the South Wiltshire Downs, the town of Mere was once a staging post for weary travellers on the London to Exeter route. At its heart stands the Clock Tower, built in 1868 to replace the medieval Market House. The centre of town is today classified as a Conservation area with its delightful church mentioned in the book of Best Churches and some houses built of stone from the ruined hill top castle.

This circular town walking Treasure Hunt takes in key points of interest in this charming town; in particular its hostelries and churches as well as Victorian and more recent heritage. The Trail follows pavements, lanes and footpaths; it is considered to be manageable for wheelchair users with a companion.

    WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
My favourite trail was the Mere trail as we probably would not have gone here otherwise and it was such a lovely town with so much to see.
