YOUR CASE
Fearing being caught between Royalist and Parliamentarian troops at The Chase, Lady Fiona rushed to the foundry to have her gold cast as a bell and covered in pitch to go unnoticed in the tower. It is thought that her groom later found a better hiding place nearby. Follow the directions and solve the clues to see if you can find the lost bell. You may not find gold but could win a cash prize!
Aldbourne
Within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village of Aldbourne is in a valley in the southern slopes of the Lambourn Downs. Roman roads and an ancient track called the Sugar (‘Robbers’) Way form stretches of the chalkland parish boundaries; and a branch of the great Ridgeway runs above the escarpment which separates Aldbourne from the Og Valley.
This circular 1.25 mile walking Trail takes in The Green, surrounded by beautiful houses and dominated by the elevated 15th Century church, and the area of The Square with its pond and from where roads radiate. The Crown on The Square or The Blue Boar on The Green offer refreshments.
The route of the Trail is considered suitable for wheelchairs although there is a significant incline (between clues 9 and 10) and assistance may be required for clue 17.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
Thanks for suggesting the trail which fitted in perfectly before visiting our friends in Aldbourne. The thatched cottages at the Butts were charming and the boys liked the 'hunting' and even the mathematical challenge at the milestone!
