  • YOUR CASE

Recent excavations in the cathedral grounds have uncovered literature that has the local architectural society buzzing. Fragments of a map have been found that indicate the location of buried treasure. The find also contained instructions (see below) on how to find the treasure to which the map refers. If you can you solve the clues and identify the location of the treasure, you could win a prize!

    St Davids

St David, the patron saint of Wales, was born close to St David's at what is now St Nons. St David founded a monastery in the area and led a very hard and simple life, drinking only water and eating no meat.
St David’s Cathedral was started in the 12th century and has been remodelled, extended and rebuilt many times during its lifetime. The city has become the de facto ecclesiastical capital of Wales and the final resting place of Saint David. The Cathedral became a popular place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. Next to it is the 14th-century Bishop's Palace, a ruin maintained by Cadw and open to visitors.
St David's was granted city status in 1995 and is the smallest city in the United Kingdom. It is also Wales' western most point on the St David's peninsular. As ever in Wales, nothing is on the level and there is quite a steep flight of steps from the City centre to the cathedral although there is an alternate route to get there. St David's is a popular place to visit for any visitor and must be included on any itinerary.

This Treasure Hunt Trail takes you from the Visitors' Centre through the city centre along the High Street to St David's Cathedral and return. As ever in Wales there is always a steep slope somewhere, but the Trail should be suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. The Trail is about 2 miles long and will take approximately 2 hours.
