YOUR MISSION

Intelligence experts have intercepted communications from the evil Prof D. Ragons-Claw that show the navigation instruments on a local millionaire’s yacht have been rigged to set off a bomb when the yacht reaches a depth of 5 metres. The yacht is expected to return to harbour within the next 3 hours. The programme is protected by a code. Can you solve the clues to find the code to save the yacht and its owner from disaster?

The New Quay Trail

Like many towns along the coast of this area, New Quay grew up from a small fishing village to an industry centred around boatbuilding. Boatbuilding lasted to the end of the 19th century. Today, the main industry is tourism with all manner of accommodation: Hotels, B&B’s, self catering, caravan parks and campsites. The harbour is very picturesque and has hosted a RNLI lifeboat since 1864. New Quay was a favourite haunt of Dylan Thomas and indeed was the location for the film “The Edge of Love” starring Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller. The film follows a wartime love story with Dylan Thomas (played by Matthew Rhys).

This Spy Trail takes in some stunning views over the bay of New Quay, is some 2.5 miles long and takes about 2 hours. There is an unmade footpath leading from one level of cliff to the other that makes this part unsuitable for pushchairs and wheelchair users. There is a detour that circumvents this, but there are still steep hills elsewhere. Regrettably, this Trail is unsuitable for wheelchair users, but should be OK for pushchairs.
