Welcome to Dorset!

Dorset is a county of great beauty, a land of contrast and breathtaking scenery. The birthplace of the two famous Thomas Hardys, one the literary character born, and also buried near Dorchester, famous for such stories as The Mayor of Casterbridge and Tess of The d'Urbervilles.  The other, Thomas Masterman Hardy, the vice admiral to Lord Nelson, and associated with the famous quote from Nelson "Kiss me, Hardy" or was it Kismet, Hardy?

Contrast the peace of the countryside with the beautiful villages around Dorset, many of which are in   designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the vibrant towns rich with history.   Not forgetting the wonderful UNESCO World Heritage Site, with 185 million years of the earth's history along the 95 miles of the Jurassic Coastline of Dorset and East Devon.

Dorset Trails are full of interesting little snippets of fact as well some wonderful hidden places you would just never see.    Find out where Reggie Perrin stripped off and disappeared into the sea in the TV program The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin.    Have a look at the lovely home of Prince Edward VII and his beautiful mistress, Lily Langtry.   Discover  where Ian Flemning found inspiration for James Bond.

Just imagine how much fun you are going to have...

The Dorset Trail catalogue is growing all the time, with over 30 great locations already up and running! with a number in the pipeline.

There will be some more new cycling Trails coming to Dorset ready for the Summer, so get that bike out and lets go cycle Trailing!

Treasure Trails Dorset and Transdev Yellow Buses of Bournemouth have launched their  Murder Mystery Bus Trail.  Hop on and Hop off the Route 1a bus from Bournemouth's bustling town centre to Christchurch with its history and beautiful Quay, and solve the clues at locations along the route.  Look out for the Yellow Treasure Trails Bus!

Coming soon - a new Treasure Hunt along the 1a route.
