Cornwall Trail Trouble

If you had trouble solving a Trail, check the list below to see if your problem has been reported before.

When a problem has been reported we fix the Trail immediately, but if your Trail was bought some time ago, your copy will still have the old clue. However to allow you still to enter the competition, the answer to the clue is shown below.

The overall solution to a Trail is never affected.

13th April 2008.

St Mawes.  

Clue 9. The telescope displaying this answer has mysteriously vanished!!  The answer was Glenleigh

New Trails have been updated and are not affected.  The overall solution is unaffected.

2nd April 2008.

Bude.  

Clue 4 and 5.  Due to storm damage these clues cannot be accessed.  The suspects were Nick Turbot and 1823

Clue 6.  The Museum is currently being refurbished and the clue is not visible. The suspect was Richard Neunes

Clue 13.  The plaque in the park has been stolen. The suspect was Annie Sorbus

New Trails have been updated and are not affected.  The overall solution is unaffected.

22nd March 2008.

Launceston.  

Clue 2.  The sign in the Castle Grounds has been erased.  The suspect was Richard Earl

Clue 20.  The Town Hall is currently being refurbished and the clue is not visible. The suspect was SA Webbet

New Trails have been updated and are not affected.  The overall solution is unaffected.

2nd March 2008.

Wadebridge.  Clue 18.  The sign on the Churchill Arms has been removed.  The suspect was T Salt.  New Trails have been updated and are not affected.  The overall solution is unaffected.

13th August 2007.

Bodmin Moor. The information board at Colliford Dam has been temporarily removed. The answer to Clue 11 is Andrew Parsons. The overall solution is unaffected.

30th July 2007.

Looe. There is some construction work taking place on the harbour wall. It means that access to Clue 8 is temporarily impossible. The answer to this clue is Austin Maclean.

24th July 2007.

Camborne has a new last clue now, so those who purchase the Trail after today may disregard the Trail Trouble below.

12th July 2007.

Boscastle has got some extra flood protection work being undertaken along the path to the harbour. There is a very small detour around the works so don't be put off. Only one clue is affected:

Clue 8 - Is temporarily inaccessible. The answer is Pentargon.

20th June 2007.

Camborne has been affected by a demolished building. It's a shame as it was a lovely old building. Details of the affected clue are shown below:

Clue 17 - For older Trails the answer is J Lanyon. For Trails with murder weapons the answer is 1888.

Apologies for any inconvenience. The overall solution to this Trail remains unaffected.

13th May 2007.

Lostwithiel has been amended. Details of affected clue are shown below:

Clue 14 - The manhole cover has been broken and replaced. The answer was Sarah Clunes.

The overall solution to this Trail remains unaffected.

20th February 2007.

Newquay has been amended. Details of affected clue are shown below:

Clue 12 - The wording of the clue should read "the last letter of the name with the initials HJE". Clue 15 - the Carnmarth Hotel no longer advertises Licensed Bowling.

Lizard and Helston are now fixed and available for download.

We are sorry to say that Lizard and Helston are currently broken. The solution to each Trail is unaffected. For Trailers who bought the earlier versions and wish to submit their answer, the answers to the damaged clues are below:

Padstow - This Trail is not broken but the sign on the RNLI board has been refurbished. In the meantime we have placed a poster just inside the shop window to tell you the answer to that clue. Just in case you didn't see it the answer to Clue 13 is Wendy Pulfrey. The overall solution is not affected. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

St Ives - This Trail is not broken but the board on the NCI Station has been temporarily moved for refurbishment. In the meantime we have placed a poster on the notice board to tell you the answer to that clue. Just in case you didn't see it the answer to Clue 14 is Maurice Jones. The overall solution is not affected. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

20th December 2006.

Mevagissey - This Trail is now unavailable due to major construction work on the harbour. I will rewrite this Trail in the New Year. In the meantime a poster has been placed by the first clue explaining where the clues have been affected. The answers to these clues are:

Clue 9: Martin Harvey Turner.
Clue 10: Rachel Atkinson.

The overall solution is not affected. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Roseland - Portscatho 1 has changed once more. The mine has now been completely removed following damage caused by some vandals. I have now changed the clue but for those with the revised Trails the answer to the new clue was Wilfred Pallant. The answer to the original clue was Wilfred Owen. The overall solution is not affected. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Redruth - Can you believe they moved those beautiful flower beds in the Fore Street? It means Clue 14 has gone. I have uploaded an amended Trail with a new clue but for those with older Trails the answer to Clue 14 is Prudence Ball. Apologies for an inconvenience.

The Southerly Point 1 clue on the Lizard Trail has changed due to the RNLI sign being taken down. For those with older trails the answer to this clue was MV Corallo.
