YOUR CASE
John Wilkinson, a well known local smuggler, has eluded the Customs men again. After a significant run of good French Brandy into Sussex, Wilkinson and his cronies have gone to ground. Captain John Butler of the Excise is on the case. Help Captain John solve the clues to find the smugglers' secret cache. You won't get any of the lovely French brandy but as your reward you could win a cash prize!
Shoreham-by-Sea
The Trail explores this Sussex coastal town at the mouth of the River Adur with the beautiful South Downs in the background. It brings Shoreham’s lively maritime past to the fore, whilst you take in the place where King Charles II fled after the Battle of Worcester. Across the estuary you will spot Shoreham Beach with its historical fort at the entrance to Shoreham Harbour and state of the art Lifeboat station. Along the Trail you will discover the oldest non-religious building in Sussex and the incredible Church built at the end of the 11th century. Also whilst on the Trail you may be lucky to spot some of the interesting private aircraft as they take-off and land at the nearby Art-Deco Shoreham Airport.
The Trail is suitable for push chairs and wheel chairs. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes suitable for a two hour walk.
