  • YOUR CASE

Luke E was helping his family de-clutter the home when he discovered a notebook and a map in an old steel trunk. He learnt that his great great grandfather had spent years searching for a hidden hoard of gold left by a Saxon ancestor. He had buried it after the Battle of Hastings to hide it from the Normans. Luke is curious, maybe the fortune is still hidden. Can you help him in the search to find the Saxon gold?

    1066 Driving Trail

This Trail is probably best enjoyed as a whole day out. On the Trail you discover five towns in 1066 Country. The early times of the Norman Invasion saw the Normans landing at Pevensey, securing their first base and siting their first place of worship there. The Trail takes you on a tour of Pevensey and then close to Hastings (one of the places where William the conqueror camped on his way up to Battle), to the Old Town of Bexhill then on to Crowhurst and further inland on the march up to Battle. You will take in some of the truly interesting historical sites related to the Norman Landing and expansion into Britain.

Suitable for pushchairs. We recommend suitable footwear for two hours' walking.
