YOUR CASE
The famous five toed Dorking Cockerel was brought here many years ago by the invading Romans. Legend has it that Roman money lender Enormus Chrismus Bonus reared one that laid golden eggs which he collected and hid away. Recent excavations have unearthed a map which could reveal the location of this treasure. Local historian Art E. Fact needs your help to find where the eggs are hidden by solving a series of clues concealed around Dorking.
Dorking
Dorking is a market town that nestles in the narrow valley between the Greensand Hills to the south and the chalk hills of the North Downs. It is a town of special charm and character, and particularly well known for its thriving antiques trade in West Street where more than 20 shops represent over 100 dealers.
The spire of the parish church of St Martins is one of the tallest in the country.
This Trail is about a mile and a half long, and takes you around the town using pavements and footpaths. Please allow one and a half to two hours to complete the Trail.
There are a few short inclines which shouldn't give too much trouble to wheelchair and pushchair users.
