WHERE IS THE CLUE?

Our aim is to provide a balanced Trail in terms of route, local knowledge and clues. Our founder, Steve Ridd, refers to the most satisfying clues as "killer clues". These are the sort of clues that the whole family will jump up and down about when they've found the location. Whilst the location might challenge all your observational and deduction skills, the answer to the clue itself should never be out of reach.

Very occasionally, you may look up, down and all around and still not spot the location of the clue. That could be because there's a festival on and there's a crowd of people around it, or someone's sitting on it, or it's snowed over, or the weeds have grown ten feet in just one week!

If we become aware of a temporary problem we'll report it here. If it's of a more permanent nature then we'll fix the Trail and issue a new edition as soon as we can and report it here until it's resolved. Fortunately the Trail Trouble Textline is always available, for up to three clues per Trail, to avoid any disappointment.

Aldeburgh

The tourist office, referred to in clue 12 and the fact file that follows, has now moved further along the High Street. You should still be able to solve the clue.

Kesgrave

The British Legion are currently refurbing their meeting room for the organisation's 90th birthday party so Clue 06 is temporarily missing. The word beneath the lion is "Legion" and knowing this you will be able to solve the clue.

Felixstowe

The council have moved the public toilets referred to in the directions. Although this has no impact on any of the clues, ignore the reference to public toilets in Orders 05.

Please also note that there are major works, in the summer of 2011 and 2012, to reinforce the groynes on the seafront. We are told that there will always be a route through but it seems likely that a couple of clues may be temporarily "unavailable" at various times. We will be reviewing the situation periodically. As at 5th August 2011, the Trail is still "intact".

Secrets Around Shottisham

The sign pictured in clue 16 has now been reinstated so anyone that has a little note inserted in their Trail can destroy it! Note that on this Trail, as with others, you need to look "all around" and here are a couple of extra clues for the faint hearted and to reward those that have had the initiative to find this page!

Clue 08 - try the back!

Clue 15 - bear in mind that people may want to take the weight off their feet after a good lunch at the Ramsholt Arms, or a healthy walk solving this mystery!

Thorpeness

The windmill referred to in Clue 14 is being renovated and, currently, part of the clue is obscured. To solve the clue you need to know that there are 6 blades in the fantail and the year when Thorpeness was connected to the water supply is 1963.

Woodbridge

Please note that the Tide Mill is being renovated and has scaffolding and a barrier around it. The work is scheduled to be completed by Easter 2012. However this should not spoil your Trail and Clue 03 can be found outside the works area.
