YOUR CASE
Following a wild party at a local film maker's home the film starlet and scandalous darling of the tabloids, Candi Flosse, has been found floating face down in the canal by chicken farmer Henrietta Cayke. The police suspect foul play and have arrested her boyfriend Hugh Dunnett. However, you saw her arguing with several people at the party and believe him to be innocent so you are determined to discover the real culprit.
Whittington
The large village of Whittington lies between Lichfield and Tamworth in a fertile farming area. The centre retains a traditional feel, despite the large growth in housing for those who commute to the West Midlands conurbation. The elegance and quality of some of the older buildings highlight the wealth of the village in days of yore, a wealth bolstered by the Coventry Canal and the railway bordering Whittington to the north. Nearby lies the HQ of the Defence Medical Services at Whittington Barracks. The Staffordshire Regiment Museum there warrants a visit in its own right, as does the National Memorial Arboretum a few miles to the north. One especially famous "resident" is Thomas Spencer, half of the founding partnership of Marks & Spencer, who is buried in the churchyard. For those of a nervous disposition, be warned that the White Lady, or Florrie, has appeared at the Bell Inn for over 200 years at Yuletide! The Trail is suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchairs, but those with young children should be aware that a very busy road passes through and great care needs to be taken. The best place to park is opposite St. Giles' Hospice at the Bit End sportground, beside the Bowling Club.
