YOUR CASE
Taffy Evans, a tuba player from Tenby, has been found dead in Leek. Police suspect foul play and you must unmask his killer before he strikes again. Was he killed by a jealous rival musician, or did he play all the right notes, but in the wrong order, and upset a murderous music lover? Follow the clues as you explore the town and bring this case to its finale.
Leek
The town of Leek is known as the "Queen of the Moorlands." Lying on the edge of the Peak District National Park, Leek is a busy, vibrant place. It's long history of silk weaving and dyeing still continues to this day, while in the 19th century William Morris and other Arts and Crafts devotees had a big influence on the town and it's architecture. The medieval marketplace is at the heart of the town and there are some wonderful buildings to be found. Nearby, James Brindley built his water mill, and he later went on to become the father of Britain's canal network. The clock tower war memorial is reputed to be the largest in the country, while Leek's unique claim to fame is the double sunset that can be seen on certain days from St.Edward's churchyard.
This walking Murder Mystery Trail may only be 1.25 miles long, but Leek is a very hilly town and at least 1.5 hours should be allowed. Although it is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, care should be taken in the churchyard and on cobbles if they are wet as they can be very slippery. Leek has plentiful parking, although on market days the town centre car parks can be full for most of the day.
