Whilst painstakingly restoring part of Taunton Castle, local historian, Dr I Nosealot, discovered a treasure map hidden in the wall of one of the dungeons. Thought to have been placed there by a previous prisoner, Robin Mann, it is believed to show the location of a remote island off the North Somerset Coast where he buried his ill-gotten gains.

Taunton
The town of Taunton is Somerset's County Capital and lies in the Vale of Taunton Deane between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills. It has a historical past which now lives hand in hand with the features of a modern County Town. It is home to Somerset County Cricket Club and is proud to be strongly associated with 40 Commando Royal Marines. There are many architectural features spread across the town and Vivary Park provides a haven of tranquility from the busy town centre area.
This is an interesting circular Trail which combines the busy town centre area with parks and riverside locations. The Trail passes the majority of points of interest in the town and discovers some unusual features.
It is 2 miles long and takes about 2 hours to complete. Being flat it is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
