YOUR CASE
Local Italian shoe shop owner, Phileep Ferlop, has recently lowered the tone in the village of Street. He has been making cheap imitation leather shoes and selling them as genuine.
This has angered the local traders who are world renowned in the shoe industry and extremely proud of their heritage. Phileep has been found slumped over his last having sewn his final seam. Can you bring the offender to heel and lace up this enquiry?
Street
Despite its size Street has retained its status as a village. Probably overshadowed by Glastonbury nearby it is now best known for the large Clarks factory outlet although the village itself is steeped in history and shoe making heritage. Its name is believed to have come from the Latin "strata" as in the 12th century a causeway was built from Street to Glastonbury to transport stone for rebuilding the fire damaged Abbey. Clarks have been associated with the village since 1825 when Cyrus Clark set up a sheepskin and shoe making business. Evidence of the company's influence in the village is apparent all around this Trail. This Trail offers the ideal opportunity for mum to spend a couple of hours browsing around the shops whilst the rest of the family try to discover who murdered Italian cobbler Phileep Ferlop.
This is a level circular trail of 2.8 miles and suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. It will take about 2 1/2 hours to complete. It starts at the Tourist Information Centre in the centre of Clarks Shopping Village and finishes nearby. Access can only be gained to the start of the Trail and the first two clues when the shopping village is open:- Mon - Sat 9am to 6pm Sun 10am to 5pm. There is plenty of pay and display parking available at the shopping outlet and in the Village Centre itself.
