YOUR CASE
As Professor of Literary Antiquities at Quill Bill's Publishing House, you often browse the house archives for inspiration.
This day is different, you have discovered an ancient map revealing the location of the long lost Quantock Quills.
It is said that whoever discovers the Quills will be able to pen the greatest stories ever known. Good luck on your quest as you scour the Quantock Hills in search of this literary treasure.
Quantock Hills
The Quantock Hills are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, (AONB), within the Watchet, Taunton, Bridgwater triangle.
The Quantock Hills cover an area of approximately 36 sq miles between the Somerset Levels to the south and the Avon Valley to the north.
The Trail starts in Bishops Lydeard and finishes nearby in Lydeard St Lawrence.
Fyne Court, Coleridge Cottage and Hawkridge Reservoir provide extended walking opportunities, points of historical interest and wildlife spotting.
If you like steam trains, check the West Somerset Railway timetable, as the Trail goes alongside the beautiful Crowcombe Heathfield Station.
As with all our Trails, you can easily extend the duration when you take a while to appreciate the surrounding views and countryside.
Hestercombe Gardens, Fyne Court and Watchet make for excellent stop off points if you want to make a full day of it. Check with Hestercombe and Fyne Court for opening times and any admission charges.
This is a driving Trail around the Quantock Hills. The Trail is approximately 45 miles plus one mile walking and will take about 4 1/2 hours to complete.
There are toilets and refreshments available at various locations on the route and parking is free at most locations.
The Trail is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
