YOUR CASE
Rogue Archeologist Doug Ahole has been excavating land around the Tor without permission under the cover of darkness.
He has uncovered some priceless gold coins to which he knows he has no claim. Burying them elsewhere to avoid the authorities confiscating them he has marked their position on a treasure map. Can you assist in locating the artefacts and returning them to their rightful place?
Glastonbury
Glastonbury is probably most well known internationally for its Annual Summer Music Festival, but the area itself is steeped in myth and legend. The town is built around the Abbey and its 37 acres of grounds. Thought to be the first christian sanctuary in Great Britain. Some believe King Arthur is buried in the grounds beside his wife Queen Guinevere. Glastonbury Tor dominates the skyline of the town and can be seen for miles around. Its origins are surrounded in legend even down to a belief that the mound it stands on is a man made labyrinth. There is a mystical aura about the place and whilst you walk around you may get the impression you have travelled back in time.
This is a circular Trail. It is 2 1/2 miles long and will take approximately 2 hours to complete. You will take in the town area with all the historical points of interest and also the Tor set high above the town. You will ascend the Tor and unfortunately due to the numerous steps up to it, the Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are numerous pay and display car parks available in the town and the Trail begins at the Tourist Information Centre in the High Street. PLEASE NOTE: The area is extremely busy during the annual Glastonbury music festival normally held towards the end of June.
