YOUR CASE
The body of local millionaire hotelier John Cedric McCaig was discovered today by a chambermaid in his penthouse suite in the Hotel De Posh. The town is buzzing with rumours of foul play in connection with McCaig's rumoured planned takeover bid for another (as yet unnamed) major local hotel.
Your job is to follow the trail of clues around Oban to find out "whodunnit" and with what weapon.
Oban
In the picturesque west coast port of Oban, the marine gateway to the isles, you’re never very far from the sea. Various boats and ferries ply the waters here, en route to many of the west coast islands. Overlooked by the splendour of McCaig’s Tower, Oban has its own distillery and many fine pubs and restaurants offering fresh seafood and west coast hospitality.
The Murder Mystery Trail takes you on a scenic route through Oban, following the promenade out as far as the war memorial. It returns through the town centre with some side trips along the way. You will visit both the Railway Pier and North Pier and finish on top of Pulpit Hill, where you will be rewarded with a stunning view of Oban Bay and the route you have just walked. The majority of the route is level but does include a moderately steep but fairly short climb up to the church. The climb to the top of Pulpit Hill and the final clue is strenuous and involves steps. There is a car park at the top if you would rather drive. Distance : 2 miles Time : Allow at least 2 hours
