In 1853, local crofter Lachlan McTavish eloped with the Laird's daughter and a large amount of the Laird's fortune. He was never heard of again until last year, when a map was discovered hidden in his old family home. The map shows a deserted island on the loch and gives clues to the location of Lachlan's hidden treasure. You must follow the trail of clues around Luss and Tarbet to find where on the island the treasure is buried.
Loch Lomond West
Loch Lomond is the largest body of fresh water in the United Kingdom and is situated within the recently formed Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Less than an hour from Glasgow, there are picture postcard views around every corner along with well kept villages and deserted islands to explore.
The Treasure Hunt Trail takes you along the western shore of the loch, exploring the villages of Luss and Tarbet that lie 8 miles apart (and that are connected by a cycle path). It is in 2 sections, 1 for each village, which can be done in either order. It is generally suitable for everyone, but you may have problems getting a wheelchair into the churchyard at Luss and across a field and through a narrow gate at Tarbet. Walking distance - 2 miles Time - Allow 2.5 hours
