  • YOUR MISSION

Dr Weevil and his dastardly henchman Hamish have planted a bomb under the aqueduct in Kirkintilloch. They will blow the aqueduct up, flooding the town below, unless someone can solve the trail of clues they have left behind! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to follow the trail of clues around Kirkintilloch to see if you can crack the code to disarm the bomb. Good luck!

    Kirkintilloch

Sitting on the Forth and Clyde Canal, Kirkintilloch is considered the canal capital of Scotland. The town's name actually comes from Caerpentaloch, meaning Fort at the Head of the Hill. It was first recorded, written as Kirkintulach, in the 1200s. The fort was one of those along the line of the Roman Antonine Wall, and it was sited on the small hill which now forms part of Peel Park.
With its blend of old and new architecture, and with the restoration of the canal, Kirkintilloch makes an interesting town to explore for an afternoon.

The Spy Trail takes you on a circuit exploring much of the town. You will visit the Auld Kirk Museum, Cowgate, the Forth and Clyde Canal and Peel Park. Unfortunately, the Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs due to steps on the route, but light pushchairs should be OK.
Distance walked - 1.5 miles. Allow 2 hours.
