Dumfries
Known, like its football club, as "Queen of the South", the charmiing, old country town of Dumfries is situated on the banks of the River Nith.
Historically, Dumfries was at one time, home to Robert Burns who is buried at St Michaels. J.M Barrie was educated in Dumfries and Robert the Bruce killed the Red Comyn on the steps of Greyfriars Church in the town.
Dumfries plays host to a wide variety of activities and attractions, including an ice rink, a swimming pool and leisure complex and three local golf courses.
Dumfries has a busy town centre with many well-known high street stores as well as small local shops. It is well served with a choice of centrally placed B&Bs, guesthouses and hotels, as well as tasteful restaurants for eating out. Well worth a visit!
This Murder Mystery Walking Trail is about 2 miles long and should take approximately 2 hours to complete. Unfortunately it is not suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs as it involves negotiating some steps, steep slopes and short distances without pavements.
