YOUR CASE
In 1816, local fraudster Owen Monie, sailed away from Arran, never to be seen again. Last year a local fisherman found an old bottle in the sea. It contained a map showing an island group in the Caribbean that Owen had discovered. It also contained a series of clues that would lead to the location of the treasure that he had collected and hidden somewhere on the islands.
Can you solve the clues and find the hiding place?
Arran South driving/cycling Trail
The Isle of Arran is often referred to as 'Scotland in Miniature', as it is divided into 'highland' and 'lowland' areas by the Highland Boundary Fault and it has all of the scenery of Scotland, with mountains and lowlands, glens, lochs and royal castles .
This driving / cycling Treasure Hunt explores the 'lowland' area, visiting Brodick, Shiskine, Blackwaterfoot, Kilmory, Whiting Bay and Lamlash. Though this is the order in which the Trail is written, each destination can be visited in any order.
This Treasure Hunt can be completed by car or by bicycle. It is about 34 miles long and should take approximately 4 hours by car and 8 hours by bicycle. It is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
