YOUR MISSION
In his latest get rich quick scheme, Dr D'Astard has organised a football tournament. In typical D'Astardly style the date is the same as the world famous Melrose 7s! In a bid to attract interest to his event, he has planted a device that will spray weedkiller over the Melrose turf, rendering it unplayable. Can you find the deactivation code for the device in time to save this great tournament?
Melrose
Melrose may be a small town, but it packs plenty of history. Like numerous Borders towns Melrose was invaded many times over by marauding Englishmen, who burned the abbey to the ground on more than one occasion. Close by was also the largest Roman fort in Scotland. However the town is probably best known for its rugby connection. This is the where the sport of rugby 7s was born and this success is what the evil Dr D'Astard would like to sabotage! You can stop him on this fantastic spy trail. With a device planted to spray weedkiller over the playing surface you are in a race against time to find the code and save the world famous tournament.
This walking trail starts by taking you out of Melrose town centre and you quickly feel like you are in the countryside. The views of the nearby Eildon hills are fabulous and the walk is enjoyable. For the second half of the trail you return to the town centre. Overall the trail should take 2 hours to complete with 1.5 miles of walking. The trail is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs, although on some sections the paths are narrow and one clue requires you to cross a small section of grass.
