  • YOUR CASE

John Gray, the master of Edinburgh's legendary dog Bobby, had a secret treasure hidden somewhere in the Old Town of Edinburgh. He was buried with his map. This was the real reason why Bobby stood guard over his grave so faithfully! After Bobby died, some grave-robbers dug up the treasure map but lost it before they could recover the bounty. It has only recently been discovered. Now you have the chance to search for John Grey's hidden treasure. Solve the clues and discover the location!

    Edinburgh Greyfriars

Constable John Gray was buried in Greyfriars kirkyard in 1858. His faithful Skye Terrier, named Bobby, guarded his master's grave for 14 years, leaving for his noon meal each day.

This trail will reveal the mystery to Bobby's loyalty!

This fantastic walking trail will give you plenty of opportunity to explore the history of Edinburgh as you go down to the cobbled Grassmarket, before visiting the Greyfriars kirkyard, where Bobby was laid to rest, and around the surrounding area.

The trail continues to the Meadows before looping back to finish near the Greyfriars kirkyard.

The trail is suitable for wheelchairs and prams, although there are 2 uphill sections.

Additionally you will have to negotiate grass and gravel paths during the trail which may be soft following bad weather.

If you choose to do this trail during August you will be given plenty of opportunity to visit some top festival locations.

This is a great Treasure Hunt walking Trail around the streets of Edinburgh. The Trail is approx 1.75 miles long and should last approximately 2 hours.
