  • YOUR CASE

In 1696, the Jolly Rodger pirate ship ran aground off the coast of Johnshaven carrying chests of stolen Spanish gold. All but one of the chests was recovered by the authorities and it is rumoured that the remaining chest still lies hidden somewhere in the villages of the Mearns Coastline. Can you solve the clues and find out where it is hidden?

    Mearns Coastal Trail

The Mearns Coastline has been associated with the fishing industry for centuries and the traditions are still very much in evidence today.

This is a buried treasure driving Trail which explores the fishing villages of Inverbervie, Gourdon, Johnshaven and St Cyrus.
The Trail is 11 miles and will take approximately 3 hours. Regrettably, the Trail is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Please note the Trail takes you along a clifftop path for about 200m in St Cyrus and caution should be taken with young children.
