  • YOUR CASE

Historical documents make reference to a secret passage leading to the Castle. It is believed there is a treasure chest in the passage which has long been blocked up. It has been decided that to find the treasure the ground will need to be dug up! But where to start digging is the question! Can you solve the clues to discover where the treasure might be?

    Banff

It’s amazing how we walk around with our eyes closed sometimes without appreciating our surroundings. Our Banff walking buried treasure Trail has been designed with this in mind and will show you the best bits of this historical town in a fun and entertaining way.
Banff itself is an old county town and a Royal Burgh, having received its charter from Robert the Bruce in 1324. Its history stretches backs to the 12th century when it was one of the important Hanseatic trading towns in northern Europe and remains a fascinating place to explore.

This is a circular buried treasure Trail which leads you round Banff's historical sights and winding streets. It starts in the "upper town" and heads along to the remains of a medieval castle and down into its picturesque harbour area offering beautiful views of the Moray coastline. The Trail is 1¾ miles and takes approximately 1¾ hours. It is suitable for pushchairs and assisted wheelchairs. Please note the road down George Street into Sheriff's Brae is steep.
