  • YOUR MISSION

The green-fingered genius, Dr Rose Gardener, acting on behalf of an unscrupulous Scottish town, has planted a device which will be activated in advance of the judging of a prestigious Britain in Bloom competition. The device will spray strong fertiliser causing flowers to bloom too early, thereby scuppering Aberdour's chances. Your mission is to follow the trail of clues, identify the deactivation code in time and maybe win a prize!

    Aberdour

The picturesque and historic village of Aberdour, known as the Jewel of Fife, is located on the south coast of Fife. It has two award-winning beaches, one of Scotland's best-preserved medieval parish churches, dating largely to the 12th century, and several interesting independent shops as well as a good choice of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. Aberdour Castle, in the care of Historic Scotland, sits in the middle of the village. Aberdour has a very popular yearly festival, which runs from late July to early August and features musical events, shows, sporting events and children's events. Aberdour railway station is a beautifully preserved late Victorian example. It has won several awards for its appearance and contributes to the village's appeal. The village also has an active Village in Bloom committee and has won various awards. In 2010 they developed a beautiful sensory garden in the heart of the village.

This Trail will take you through the centre of the village, past the castle, to the war memorial, the churchyard and the park in Shore Road, the beautiful Aberdour harbour and Aberdour's famous beaches. There is one steep downwards hill, 2 flights of steps and some bumpy terrain, which makes this Trail regrettably unsuitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

This trail would be ideal for picnic goers at it ends at the scenic Silver Sands beach and fields.
