During the English Civil War, Prince Rupert was given the task of guarding the Queen's jewels. During the turmoil of the war, the jewels disappeared and their whereabouts remain undiscovered to this day. It is your challenge to solve a Trail of clues around the town and find out where they are. Perhaps there will be a reward!
Newark Castle
Newark is a historic market town with a fantastic cobbled market place surrounded by imposing buildings. The town sits on the River Trent, as does the formidable 12th Century Newark Castle. Along this circular Trail you will take in the town itself as well as explore along the river and step back in time at the castle.
This Trail is approximately 2 miles long and should take 2 hours. It is suitable for pushchairs but regrettably not for wheelchairs.
