YOUR CASE
Local librarian Seymour Books has uncovered an ancient map in the vaults of the old grammar school. Some believe it to be the map that infamous highwayman Stan Andelever stashed at The Old Lock Up when he was incarcerated there on his way to be hanged. It could reveal where he hid his booty. Solve these clues and you may discover if this is true!
Tuxford
The village of Tuxford, historically, would be regarded as a small town due to the fact that it has a Market Place. Previously known as Tuxford in the Clays, Tuckers Ford and as far back as the Doomsday Book, Tuxfarne. Over the many years the lands around have been owned by many lords of the manor, the most recent being the Duke of Newcastle. At one time there were 4 railway stations and a goods yard, reflecting just how important the village was. Today you can see the many reminders of its past. The magnificent St Nicholas Church, the Old Lock Up and of course Tuxfords Windmill which is a working windmill.
This Trail will take approximately 2 hours to complete and covers 2.5 miles. It is suitable for pushchairs but unsuitable for wheelchairs. The windmill closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but all clues are accessible everyday.
