Mad scientist Dr Mak Hehm has hatched a dastardly plot and he is about to show the world. The lighthouse at the end of Roker Pier has been secretly converted to a ballistic rocket and will be fired into the earth's orbit. The firing mechanism has been set and only a secret code can deactivate it. Dr Hehm has left a series of clues around Roker that will lead to the discovery of the code. Do you accept the mission to save the pier?

Fill your lungs full of sea air as you start and finish this Trail. It starts and finishes at Roker Promenade and you have ample free parking in the area. The post code of the start point is SR6 0PL. The start area is just off the A183 where the road from the city centre meets the sea front. The route is regrettably not suitable for wheelchairs due to the gradient leaving the marina area.
