YOUR CASE
In ancient times miniature gold, termed dancing sand, was a valuable commodity. A cargo of rare dancing sand had been sent to the Roman camp in South Shields in the year AD199. It was stolen by the infamous local trio Wilsonus, Keppelus and Bettimus. The pirates buried the treasure locally after performing their special victory dance. Recent excavations at Arbeia revealed a map with the location of the horde. Can you find it?
South Shields
South Shields is strongly linked with the river Tyne and the sea. It has been home to many settlers including Romans, Anglo Saxons, Vikings & Celts. The route of this Trail takes you by a fun fair, sand dunes, dramatic sea views and a Roman Fort. It is about two miles long and should take two and a half hours to complete. On the way you can promenade by the sea and in a fine Victorian park. It may suit you to pause to feed the swans, have an ice cream or even enjoy a miniature train ride. As you do all this you are getting closer to finding the location of the treasure. The Trail starts in the Harbour Drive North car park which is very close to the Little Haven Hotel. The post code is NE33 1LH. If driving it is best to get to the sea front at South Shields and then follow the A183 until you are directed to the Little Haven Hotel. The car park you need is quite close.
Suitable for pushchairs.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
What a brilliant idea! We managed to entertain the whole family for two and a half hours for the same cost as three ice creams. We had real fun just chatting about what was coming up next. We all managed to be an expert at one point.
