  • YOUR CASE

In 1876, Paul Thornton sailed away from Portaferry, never to be seen again. Last year fishermen found an old bottle out to sea. It contained a map showing an island in the middle of Strangford Lough that Paul had discovered. It also contained clues on how to find the treasure that Paul had hidden on the island. Now it's your turn to try to discover the location of the treasure!

    Portaferry Treasure Hunt

Around Portaferry you will walk on paved streets. On the Trail expect a slight climb and narrow sidewalks going along Ferry Street. The Windmill has ground paths and grass and you will have to find your own way around once inside, but it's a relaxing walk. The rest of the route is moderate ups and downs.

    Suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
This is a walking Mystery Treasure Trail. it is 2 miles in length and should take you no more than 1.5 hours to complete.
