  • YOUR CASE

Locals were shocked to learn that the body of Picca Lilly had been found one morning in Dark Lane. It was known that Lilly, a local wheeler dealer from Daventry, had been active in buying up prime moorings for resale at inflated prices, but nobody had realised the scale of her operation. Now somebody had reacted, but were the locals sorry? Maybe not... but they would still like to know...who pickled Lilly in Braunston?

    Braunston Marina

This Trail, the shorter of two we have in Braunston, is about two and a quarter miles long and will take you about two and a half hours as you explore the village and the canal which helped make it famous. Braunston is often described as the heart of England's waterways. It is where the Grand Union and the Oxford Canals meet and where the network opens up to reach the furthest corners of the country. Set in rolling countryside, the village sits high over the valley giving magnificent views above the canal which cuts through the valley. The Trail takes you through the village on the hill and then down to the canal with its fascinating history and the sights and sounds of its bustling and thriving present. It is a Trail to take time over, to pause at the refreshment stops along the way, and above all, to enjoy.
