Thornton-le-Dale
Thornton le Dale is a quaint village with many hidden charms. This Trail leads you around the main hub of this old village taking in the duckpond, the 14th Century All Saints Church, almshouses and the historic village green. As you follow the pretty streams and becks around the village, you will also see some of the most picturesque village scenes in England and one particular view used on many calendars and chocolate boxes over the years.

ADDITIONAL TRAIL INFORMATION
Route: This Trail starts in the main car park and leads you between fields and along country lanes to some of the most picturesque parts of the village before returning to the centre and the old village green.
Facilities: There are some beautiful picnic spots along the route and refreshments are available near the beginning and end of the Trail in the area around the village green. Toilets are available next to the car park at the start of the Trail.
Extend your trip: An optional detour along a footpath to Ellerburn will add 2 miles to your journey. Here you will find St.Hilda's Church, a 12th Century church with remains of earlier Saxon and Viking features built into its walls. The North Yorkshire Motor Museum houses a fine collection of classic and vintage cars and motorcycles and you can also watch cars being restored in the workshop.
Parking: The Trail starts in the main public Pay & Display car park next to the Lakeside Toilets, signposted from both the A170 and A169.
By public transport, bus number 128 running from Scarborough to Helmsley stops by the village green. The car park is signed across a footbridge from here.
